In Memory of
John Teague
July 1, 1966 – January 3, 2012
With great sadness we announce the passing of John Teague, OU Club of Houston board member and scholarship chairman, Tuesday, January 3, 2012. Funeral services were held Friday, January 6 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Houston.
John was a highly respected and valued member of the Houston Sooner family. Those of us who had the opportunity to work with him on the OU Club board and scholarship committee know of his dedication and hard work to select the best and brightest students from the Houston area to attend the University of Oklahoma. His tireless energy and attention to detail resulted in one of most successful golf tournament fundraisers, benefiting the OU Club scholarship fund.
John was born in Houston on July 1, 1966 and graduated from Westchester High School in Spring Branch ISD. He was an honors graduate of the University of Oklahoma, where he was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity, serving as Treasurer and chapter President. He received his Juris Doctor from Baylor Law School, where he served as the Notes and Comments Editor for the Baylor Law Review. John was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1991. He was a member of the American Bar Association (Litigation Section), the Texas Association of Defense Counsel, and the Houston Bar Association. John was also a member of the St. Vincent de Paul parish and sang in the choir for many years.
John is survived by his wife, Kelly, and his children, Emily, Jennifer and Benjamin; mother, Ann Teague; and brothers Robert Teague of Oakland, California and James Teague of Kuching, Malaysia.
We have lost a great Sooner, a devoted husband and father, and a wonderful friend.
The family requests contributions may be made to the John Teague Memorial Fund, established for his children, c/o Jimmy Tindall, 2312 Blue Bonnet Blvd., Houston, Texas 77030; the OU Club of Houston Scholarship Fund, or Houston Hospice.
