Student Recruitment

More than 3,900 freshmen enroll at the University of Oklahoma each year, and 25 percent of those freshmen are from Texas.

Student recruitment is one of the fun and rewarding ways the OU Club of Houston helps assist the University in recruiting Houston-area high school students to attend OU.

Every fall most high schools hold “college fairs” at their respective high school or community center. OU Club members volunteer, are trained and participate in selected high school college fairs. Students and parents attend the college fairs and “shop” for potential colleges. Working with the OU Office of Prospective Student Services, the OU Club helps organize and recruit volunteers to attend area college fairs throughout the Houston area.

Usually held during the first two weeks of October, OU Club of Houston member-volunteers distribute literature, answer questions about the University and its programs, and merchandise the University and OU Club of Houston scholarship programs.

The OU Club of Houston has one of the largest and most successful student recruitment programs of any alumni association outside the state of Oklahoma. For more information about the OU Club of Houston student recruitment program, please contact Rick McCalip, our student recruitment chairman at admin@ouclubofhouston.org.

If you are interested in attending a training session and subsequent assignment to a local student recruitment college fair, please download the OU Club of Houston volunteer form below.  Once you have completed the form, please mail it to the OU Club of Houston address indicated on the form.
